| Space is very limited, so please plan ahead. The CIT program will be offered at both Jefunira Camp Palo Alto and Jefunira Camp Mountain View. This summer we will again be offering our popular Leadership & Counselor in Training (CIT) program at Jefunira Camp. Our goal for the Leadership & Counselor in Training (CIT) program is to provide an enjoyable and safe summer experience appropriate for older children (entering grades 7-9 in the fall of 2008). The experience will include leadership training and the opportunity to assume some daily responsibilities at Jefunira Camp, along with the fun and excitement that accompany the rest of our summer program. It is our hope that the CIT campers will begin to develop some of the skills that will allow them to assume additional leadership positions in the future, perhaps as counselors at Jefunira Camp!
Because of the age of the participants in our Leadership/CIT program, CITs will be considered leadership campers at Jefunira Camp. It is important to remember that CITs are considered campers, not staff members. CITs will always be working with the help and support of Jefunira Camp staff members. CITs will not be put in a position where they are providing the primary supervision of the day campers. The cost to enroll a child in our CIT program will be $650 per two-week session. When choosing sessions on the application form, please rank them in order of preference. Because of high demand and limited spaces, we may not be able to accommodate your first choice.
At times, the CITs will work together in their own group under the supervision of a Jefunira Camp staff member. They will use this time to meet and bond with other CITs; to learn how to help with the various camp games, activities, and responsibilities; and to receive feedback and support in their role as camp leaders. In addition to these training periods, the primary responsibility of the CITs will be to assist the directors and the staff of Jefunira Camp. A typical day may involve interacting with the day campers, helping counselors to run events, aiding in the set up and clean up of camp activities, and assisting the directors and staff in other daily chores. In addition, we will provide opportunities for Leadership/CIT participants to enjoy the richness of the activities and events that our camp has to offer.
